So, Don't wait. If the only thing you did was experience the Yee-Ping Lantern Festival, that alone would be worth it.

Wat Arun, Bangkok

Day One: Bangkok

After years of bringing people to Thailand, I realized something...The emotional tone of a trip gets set immediately. Not three days later. Not after the first excursion. It starts the moment you land, and that's why I make sure all our guests are met at the airport, and everything possible is done to get the journey started as smoothly as possible.

We begin in the vibrant heart of Bangkok, where we ease into the adventure the Thai way… with a relaxing traditional massage after the long international flight.

Once refreshed, you’ll meet the rest of the guests (team) before diving into your first taste of Thailand at the spectacular ICONSIAM riverside complex, where local snacks, flavors and culture come alive along the Chao Phraya River.

From there, we visit the famous Trimurti and Ganeshe Shrines, places connected to love, success and new beginnings, before boarding a traditional klong boat through Bangkok’s hidden waterways to the Golden Mount at Wat Saket. We make merit on the top of the Golden Mount as the sunsets over Bangkok.

As evening falls, the expedition officially begins with our exclusive Challenge Coin Ceremony over dinner, welcoming you into the journey ahead. We then finish the night like locals at the legendary The Saxophone Pub & Restaurant, one of Bangkok’s best hidden live music venues, where jazz, blues and classic Thai nightlife create the perfect first night in the Kingdom.

Day Two: Bangkok

Day 2 is where the energy of Bangkok truly comes alive. We begin with a guided exploration of the breathtaking The Grand Palace, the spiritual and cultural heart of Thailand, where golden temples, royal architecture and centuries of history create one of the most unforgettable experiences in Southeast Asia. After the palace tour, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Relax by the pool, recover from jet lag with another Thai massage, explore hidden cafés and markets, or dive deeper into Bangkok’s incredible shopping and street food scene.

As the city cools down, the adventure starts again with an exciting nighttime tuk tuk journey through the glowing streets of Yaowarat Road in Chinatown, one of the world’s great street food districts. Neon lights, sizzling woks and hidden alleyways create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on earth. The evening finishes high above the city skyline at one of Bangkok’s iconic rooftop bars, where craft cocktails, skyline views and the electric energy of the city provide the perfect ending to another unforgettable day on the Magic of Thailand Expedition.

Day Three: Chiang Mai

Day 3 takes us north to the cultural capital of Thailand as we board a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, surrounded by misty mountains, ancient temples and jungle landscapes. But this is not a typical sightseeing day… this is where the expedition spirit truly begins. After arriving, we head into the lush countryside for an exciting whitewater rafting adventure, navigating tropical river rapids through the jungles of Northern Thailand.

Then comes one of the most unique experiences in the country — climbing the famous Bua Tong Sticky Waterfalls. Thanks to the mineral-rich limestone surface, you can actually walk and climb directly up the cascading waterfalls barefoot, creating a fun and unforgettable experience unlike anywhere else in the world. By the end of the day, you’ll already feel far removed from the ordinary tourist trail and fully immersed in the adventurous side of Thailand.

We then head into the historic Old Town of Chiang Mai to experience one of Northern Thailand’s most iconic dishes , the legendary Khao Soi, a rich and flavorful coconut curry noodle soup that has become a true culinary symbol of the region.

Day Four: Chiang Mai - Big Lantern Release

Today is the moment that makes this entire expedition truly unforgettable - the magical Yi Peng Lantern Festival. This is the reason we journey to Thailand in November each year, timing the expedition to experience one of the most breathtaking festivals on earth.
After breakfast, you’ll have most of the day free to relax, enjoy Chiang Mai at your own pace, or simply prepare for the incredible evening ahead.

As sunset approaches, we travel into the mountains outside Chiang Mai for a bucket-list cultural experience that few travelers ever forget. The evening includes dinner, live cultural performances and the anticipation that builds before thousands of glowing lanterns rise into the night sky together in a stunning display of light, hope and beauty. Quite honestly, if this was the only experience of the entire two-week expedition, the journey would still be worth it. Watching the sky fill with floating lanterns is one of those rare travel moments that stays with you for the rest of your life.

Morning in Doi Inthanon Natl. Park

Bamboo Hut at Family Homestay

Day Five: Doi Inthanon

Day 5 brings one of the most meaningful cultural experiences of the entire Magic of Thailand Expedition, and it happens to fall on Thanksgiving Day in the United States. But instead of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner back home, we celebrate surrounded by the mountains, rivers and warm hospitality of Northern Thailand inside Doi Inthanon National Park.

The day begins with a journey through Thailand’s highest national park, famous for its cool mountain air, lush forests and spectacular waterfalls. Along the way, we visit the stunning Wachirathan Waterfall, widely considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the park, where powerful cascades crash through the jungle mist. We also make our way high into the mountains to visit the iconic Twin Royal Pagodas, King Inthawichayanon Memorial Pagoda and Queen Sirikit Memorial Pagoda, perched above the clouds with breathtaking panoramic views over Northern Thailand.

As evening arrives, the experience becomes deeply personal. Instead of restaurants or tourist venues, we gather for Thanksgiving dinner with a local Thai family beside a small river in the heart of the national park, sharing food, stories and genuine connection in a way few travelers ever experience. That night, we stay in simple bamboo huts surrounded by nature, slowing down and connecting deeply with the rhythm of Thai mountain life. It is a day of gratitude, culture and authenticity that perfectly captures the spirit of the expedition.

Day Six: Chiang Mai

After breakfast, the day is yours to experience Chiang Mai however you choose. As always, your host Bill will be available with insider recommendations, local tips and help planning your free time so you can make the most of your experience in Northern Thailand. You may decide to wander the charming cafés and markets of the Old Town, take a hands-on Northern Thai cooking class, relax with a traditional massage, or even visit one of Chiang Mai’s quirky animal cafés, including the famous capybara café.

This flexibility is part of the spirit of the Magic of Thailand Expedition, giving you the freedom to create your own personal moments and discoveries while still having the confidence of expert local guidance whenever you need it. As Anthony Bourdain would say, "You need to leave room for those happy accidents."

Our final evening in Chiang Mai ends on a peaceful and unforgettable note with an enchanting visit to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep high above the city in the mountains. As the sun disappears and the evening lights of Chiang Mai begin to glow below, the temple transforms into something truly magical. The golden chedi shines brilliantly under the night sky, reflecting warm golden light across the temple grounds
while incense drifts softly through the cool mountain air.

Far removed from the daytime crowds, the atmosphere feels calm, spiritual and almost dreamlike. Monks chant quietly in the background as the city sparkles beneath the mountain, creating one of those rare travel moments that feels timeless. It is the perfect way to close this chapter of the expedition before we continue south toward Thailand’s tropical islands.

Day Seven: Phuket

Today the expedition shifts from mountains and temples to the turquoise waters of Southern Thailand as we arrive in Phuket and step aboard our new home for the next six unforgettable days - a luxury 4-cabin catamaran sailing yacht. From this point forward, your hotel room comes with ever-changing ocean views, quiet anchorages, sea breezes and some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever experience. Every morning begins with the sound of the water and every evening ends under the tropical skies of the Andaman Sea.

Before setting sail, we provision the yacht with food and drinks tailored to your personal tastes and preferences, helping create a relaxed and comfortable home on the water. We then visit the iconic Big Buddha Phuket, towering high above the island with panoramic views over Phuket and the surrounding coastline, before heading out toward the open sea.

As the afternoon light begins to soften, we sail toward a hidden anchorage near the legendary Promthep Cape, one of the most beautiful sunset viewpoints in Thailand. Here, with the yacht gently resting in a quiet cove, we enjoy our first true “sundowners” of the voyage — cocktails, conversation and a fiery tropical sunset reflecting across the Andaman Sea. It is the perfect beginning to the sailing chapter of the Magic of Thailand Expedition.

Day Eight: Krabi

The next morning we set sail across the sparkling Andaman Sea toward the legendary coastline of Krabi and the world-famous beaches of Railay Beach. As the towering limestone karsts rise dramatically from the emerald water, you begin to understand why this region is considered one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes on earth. Massive jungle-covered cliffs shoot vertically into the sky, creating hidden lagoons, secluded beaches and breathtaking scenery that feels almost prehistoric in scale and beauty.

Along the way, we stop at the stunning Ko Hong, where crystal-clear waters and hidden coves create the perfect setting for adventure. Today becomes a true ocean playground as we search for the elusive whale shark, one of the bucket-list marine encounters of the underwater world. We’ll also explore the coastline by stand-up paddleboard, snorkel vibrant reefs in search of “Nemo” among the sea anemones, and simply enjoy the warm tropical waters surrounding the islands.

And then… Bill brings out the “Magic Carpet” — his 16-foot Hobie Cat sailboat — turning the bay into an unforgettable playground for sailing, laughter and adrenaline-fueled fun against the dramatic cliffs of Krabi.

As evening settles in, we head ashore for dinner at a laid-back beach café, toes in the sand, reggae music drifting through the warm sea air and limestone cliffs silhouetted against the sunset. Honestly… what could possibly be better?

Day Nine: Krabi

Day 9 is all about adventure, breathtaking views and the raw natural beauty of Southern Thailand. We begin early with the legendary climb to Tiger Cave Temple, one of the most rewarding and challenging temple hikes in the country. The staircase winds high above the jungle canopy, eventually revealing jaw-dropping panoramic views across the limestone peaks, dense rainforest and endless islands of the Andaman Sea. Standing at the summit beside the golden Buddha statues with the morning mist drifting through the mountains is a moment that feels truly unforgettable.

Later, we return to Railay Beach to tackle the rugged and adventurous Railay Viewpoint trail, climbing through jungle paths and rocky terrain to reach one of the most iconic viewpoints in Thailand. From above, the dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise bays and longtail boats scattered across the water create a scene so beautiful it almost looks unreal.

Of course, life aboard the catamaran remains part of the magic throughout the day. Whenever we are anchored in calm tropical waters, you’ll have the freedom to jump off the back of the yacht for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing in the warm Andaman Sea whenever the mood strikes.

As evening falls, we make our way into the lively Railay Walking Street area, where beach bars, open-air restaurants, fire shows and the smell of sizzling Thai food fill the warm night air. Dinner here captures everything people dream about when they imagine tropical Thailand — relaxed island energy, incredible food and unforgettable scenery surrounded by towering cliffs lit softly against the night sky.

Day Ten: Koh Lanta

Day 10 takes us deeper into the tropical islands of the Andaman Sea as we sail toward the laid-back paradise of Ko Lanta and some of the most stunning waters in Southern Thailand. Today is a day filled with hidden beaches, emerald water and unforgettable island exploration.

One of the highlights is the famous Morakot Cave, better known as the Emerald Cave. Reached only by swimming through a dark sea tunnel beneath towering limestone cliffs, the experience feels like stepping into an adventure film. As the cave suddenly opens, you emerge into a hidden lagoon completely enclosed by jungle-covered cliffs, with sunlight pouring down onto emerald-green water and a secret beach hidden from the outside world. It is one of Thailand’s most magical natural wonders.

We also visit the postcard-perfect island of Ko Kradan, famous for powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water and incredible snorkeling directly from the beach. Coral reefs filled with colorful marine life sit just offshore, making it another perfect opportunity to search for tropical fish, swim in warm clear water and simply enjoy the beauty of the Andaman islands at a slower pace.

As the sun sets and the islands grow quiet, we enjoy dinner together surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of island life. But the adventure is not over yet. Later that evening, weather and sea conditions permitting, we head out in search of one of nature’s rarest spectacles, bioluminescence glowing in the water beneath the night sky. With every movement, tiny organisms light up the sea in electric blue sparkles, creating the surreal feeling of swimming through liquid stars. It is the kind of experience most people only ever see in documentaries… yet here, it becomes part of your own story.

Day Eleven: Koh Phi Phi

Day 11 brings us to one of the most iconic island destinations in all of Southeast Asia - Ko Phi Phi Don. Rising dramatically from the turquoise Andaman Sea, Koh Phi Phi is a breathtaking collection of towering limestone cliffs, emerald bays and white-sand beaches that have become world famous for good reason. The islands feel almost unreal in their beauty, with jungle-covered peaks plunging straight into crystal-clear water filled with colorful longtail boats and vibrant marine life.

We anchor directly in beautiful Ton Sai Bay, just offshore from the lively village area, placing us right in the heart of the island atmosphere while still enjoying the comfort and incredible views from our luxury catamaran. From there, we hike up to the legendary Phi Phi Viewpoint, where one of Thailand’s most photographed panoramas unfolds before you — twin crescent bays connected by a narrow strip of white sand surrounded by glowing blue water and dramatic limestone mountains. It is one of those views that instantly reminds you why people dream of visiting Thailand.

Later, we board traditional Thai longtail boats and cruise into the stunning lagoons and hidden coves surrounding the Phi Phi islands, including the spectacular emerald waters often referred to as the Phi Phi Lagoon area near Pileh Lagoon. Towering cliffs surround the calm water, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere perfect for swimming, floating and taking in the beauty of the islands.

As evening arrives, we head ashore for dinner at one of Phi Phi’s famous beach club restaurants, where tables sit directly on the sand beneath swaying palm trees and the warm sea breeze carries music across the bay. Fire dancers light up the shoreline, tropical cocktails flow and the sound of the waves mixes with the energy of island nightlife. It is the perfect tropical evening in one of the world’s great island destinations.

Day Twelve: Phuket

Our final full day aboard the catamaran brings us back toward Phuket, but the adventure is far from over. After days spent island hopping through the Andaman Sea, we return to shore for two experiences that perfectly capture the magic and soul of Southern Thailand.

First, we visit the incredible Lily's Elephant Sanctuary, where you’ll have the opportunity to spend meaningful time connecting with Thailand’s gentle giants in an ethical and peaceful environment. Standing beside these magnificent animals up close is a humbling experience. Watching their calm intelligence, playful personalities and quiet grace creates the kind of emotional travel moment that stays with people long after the expedition ends.

Then, just when you think Thailand cannot become any more beautiful, we make our way north to the breathtaking Samet Nangshe Viewpoint. High above the limestone karsts and winding waterways of Phang Nga Bay, the panoramic views stretch endlessly across one of the most spectacular landscapes in all of Asia. As the late afternoon light softens across the islands and cliffs rising from the sea, the scenery feels almost cinematic in scale and beauty.

That evening, we return to the catamaran for one final night aboard our floating home in paradise. Surrounded by warm sea air, tropical skies and memories from the voyage, it becomes the perfect moment to reflect on everything
experienced throughout the expedition so far.

Day Thirteen: Bangkok

Day 13 brings us back to the vibrant energy of Bangkok as we board our flight from Phuket and return to the capital for the final chapter of the Magic of Thailand Expedition. We check into the elegant Akara Hotel Bangkok, a luxurious and stylish retreat in the heart of the city, where you’ll have free time to relax, explore or perhaps squeeze in one last traditional Thai massage before the journey comes to an end.

But the day is not just about reflection — it is also about taking a piece of Thailand home with you. Later, we gather for a hands-on Thai cooking class at the hotel, learning the flavors, techniques and secrets behind some of Thailand’s most beloved dishes. More than just a meal, it is a skill and cultural experience you’ll carry with you long after the expedition is over.

That evening, we come together one final time for our farewell dinner, sharing stories, laughter and memories from what has now become part of your own personal hero’s journey through Thailand. By this point, strangers have become friends, adventures have become lifelong memories and Thailand itself has left its mark on everyone aboard the expedition.

To close the evening, we hold one final tradition — the presentation of the Expedition Flag that has flown with us throughout the entire journey across mountains, temples and the Andaman Sea. The flag is awarded to the team member who embraced the spirit of the expedition most fully — the guest who lived boldly, connected deeply, inspired others and truly experienced Thailand with an open heart and adventurous spirit. It is a meaningful and emotional finale to an unforgettable journey.
